5 Unique Water Activities on Lake George

Lake George offers a variety of things to see and do, but there’s truly no better way to explore the Queen of American Lakes than on the water. Whether you prefer to swim and kayak from Shore Meadow’s private beach or take a sightseeing cruise around the lake, here are 5 unique water activities for your Lake George itinerary.

Steamboat Cruises & Boat Tours

Choose from scenic sightseeing tours, lunch and dinner cruises, or sunset and fireworks cruises on board a large steamboat or wooden yacht. You’ll also find tiki boat tours and fishing boat excursions, as well as water skiing, wakeboarding and cliff jumping tours. For private charters and watersports, check out Adventure Boat Tours & Watersports located right here at Shore Meadows Lodge.

Boat Rentals

Prefer to explore the lake on your own? Several local marinas offer boat rentals. Rent a pontoon boat, fishing boat, deck boat, center console and more. You can even rent a boat to go to lunch or dinner. Several lakefront restaurants are accessible by boat and offer private docking while you eat.

Kayaking

Paddling around Lake George, surrounded by the Adirondack Mountains, is truly an amazing experience, and a family-friendly activity for all ages and skill levels. Single and double kayaks, standup paddleboards and paddle boats are available to rent by the hour on the Shore Meadows property through Kayak Lake George.

Swimming

The fresh, crystal-clear waters of Lake George are ideal for swimming. In fact, Lake George is one of the safest and cleanest lakes in the United States. Our private beach offers a sandy bottom and shallow entry to the lake, and – because we’re located in a no wake zone – the water is typically very calm and safe for swimming.

Fishing

Lake George is one of New York State’s top five locations for bass fishing, as well as a number of other species, including lake trout, northern pike, pickerel, perch, pumpkinseed, rock smelt, black crappie and brown bullhead. Fishing is allowed on public docks and along Beach Rd., but for the best fishing, consider renting a kayak right here at Shore Meadows.
