You don’t have to head to the coast for a beach vacation. In fact, if you live in New York City, Westchester, Montreal, or even Boston, Lake George beaches are all within a short drive. Tucked into New York’s Adirondacks, our clean sandy beaches offer panoramic mountain views and pristine clear waters for swimming, fishing, and water sports.
Million Dollar Beach
Lake George’s most popular spot for swimming and sunbathing, Million Dollar Beach offers 51 acres of sand along the lake’s southern basin. The beach is open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend, and swimming is permitted in designated areas when lifeguards are on duty. The beach includes a snack bar and a bathhouse with restrooms, showers and changing facilities, as well as a volleyball court, picnic tables and grills, and boat launch. Parking is available for $10 per car and $5 per motorcycle (as of 2023).
Usher Park Beach
Quieter and smaller than Million Dollar Beach, Usher Park Beach is located on the southeast shore of Lake George on Route 9L. The beach is located down a steep hill from the parking area; however, the swimming area is shallow enough for small children, and lifeguards are typically on duty between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm from mid-June until September. There’s a playground, restrooms, and a picnic area with grills, as well as tennis and basketball courts. Parking is free, but limited.
Shepard Park Beach
In the heart of Lake George Village on Canada Street, Shepard Park Beach offers a large grassy hill with plenty of shade and a small sandy beach. There are restrooms and a small playground in the park, as well as an amphitheater used for a free concerts and events. Shephard Park Beach is free, but there’s no parking lot, so beach-goers must use the metered parking throughout the Village.
Rogers Memorial Park Beach

The sandy beach is open to the public from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm every day during the summer, and lifeguards are on duty from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. There’s a designated swimming area for both shallow and deeper waters, and amenities include tennis and basketball courts, picnic tables and grills, a playground, pavilion and restrooms.
